Wiener Staatsballett

The Wiener Staatsballett is the resident ballet company of the Vienna State Opera and the Volksoper, formed in 2005 from the union of the two houses’ ensembles to create a single national company for Austria. Dancing on two of Vienna’s great stages, the company sustains a broad repertoire that pairs the full-length classics — "Swan Lake", "The Nutcracker", "Onegin" — with neoclassical and contemporary creation, reflecting the city’s long association with both the Viennese ballet tradition and modern choreography. It draws on the training of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy and performs within one of the most intensive opera-and-ballet seasons anywhere in Europe.
