Het Nationale Ballet
Dutch National Ballet, based in Amsterdam, is the largest ballet company in the Netherlands and one of the most versatile in Europe. Formed in 1961, it built a repertoire that pairs the great nineteenth-century classics with the neoclassical legacy of George Balanchine and the modern language of Hans van Manen, the Dutch choreographer whose works are central to its identity. Resident at the Dutch National Opera & Ballet on the Amstel, the company is known for the breadth of its programming, its commitment to new choreography, and its acclaimed productions of the full-length classics. With its own academy and a tradition of nurturing choreographic talent, the company occupies a leading place in the European dance landscape.
