Bolshoi Ballet
Большой театр
The Bolshoi Ballet, founded in 1776, is one of the oldest and most renowned ballet companies in the world. Performing at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, it is famed for a bold, large-scale and heroic style that distinguishes it from the more lyrical schools of the West. The company’s history is bound to the development of the classical repertoire itself: the definitive "Swan Lake", "Don Quixote", "Spartacus" and the dramatic ballets of Yuri Grigorovich are central to its identity. Its dancers have long been synonymous with athletic grandeur and theatrical power. Following the extensive restoration of its historic theatre, the Bolshoi continues to present a vast season of ballet and opera on its main and new stages, drawing audiences from across Russia and the world.
